Merlynn TOM – What is it?

Tacit Object Modeller is an expert system based on artificial intelligence (AI), which digitally replicates human expert knowledge, even the quiet, unspoken (tacit). This expert system is not based on rules (although of course it can include and use them), but on the effective transfer of knowledge from a human expert to a virtual expert.

Historical data is not required for the virtual expert learning process. Validation of a virtual expert is performed on the one hand by comparing decisions issued by a virtual expert vs. by a human expert, on the other hand by comparing the decision of a virtual expert with historical data.

How does TOM work?

Creating a virtual expert is done in three steps.

  • The first step defines the problem that the virtual expert should solve.
  • In the second step, the virtual expert is taught by a human expert.
  • In the third step, the decision of a human expert is simulated by a virtual expert.

The whole cycle can be repeated any number of times until the decision of the virtual expert coincides with the decision of his teacher, whereby the virtual expert is validated and can be released for practical use.
